Research on the Vulnerabilities of Children with Disability (CWDs) From Low-income Households.

Save the Children is implementing a project titled ‘Inclusive Protection and Empowerment Project for Children with Disabilities in Bangladesh (IPEP)’ to ensure rights against all forms of violation of children with disabilities. The project is being implemented from February 2014 to February 2017 with support from the European Commission in five districts of Bangladesh: Dhaka, Sylhet, Barishal, Rangpur and Gaibandha, covering 10,000 children beneficiaries. The three yearlong IPEP project supports CWDs under SCI child protection sector and works for national level capacity building to protect rights of CWDs in slums and streets. At the middle of its intervention the project commissioned a study on assessing vulnerabilities faced by children with disabilities. The overall objectives of this study was to generate a clear understanding of the nature, extent, magnitudes and patterns of vulnerabilities of CWDs belonging to low-income households and provide recommendations on how to overcome these vulnerabilities. The study applied a mixed method approach including both qualitative and quantitative research methods using primary and secondary sources.
