Conducting Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and Preparation and Implementation of the Resettlement Action Plans (RAP)
The project aimed to address the issues and conduct the development project in an equitable manner, an Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) has been prepared by the project authority. Following the ESMF, initial environmental and social screening for the proposed line routes and substation locations have been completed. In line with the ESMF, a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) will now be undertaken that will identify the positive and negative impacts on Project Affected Persons (PAP) within the project area/right of way(ROW) along with strategies to manage them (enhancing positive impacts and mitigating the negative ones). Six Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) will have to be prepared for six proposed substations in compliance with the World Bank’s Policy on Involuntary Resettlement (OP 4.12) and Government of Bangladesh (GoB) requirements. Finally, following the approved RAPs, these will need to be implemented on ground.
