The core objective of this study was to evaluate the consequences of property conflict by identifying both the financial cost and time cost of such conflicts to the respective economic agents. The study took an innovative way to approach the issue of property dispute by doing a rigorous examination of the types of conflict one generally experiences. The idea here was to isolate the disputes into broad general categories. This exercise helped to understand the specific nature of each conflict and their causes and consequences. The study aimed to identify proportion of land that are registered under the name of the users and are unregistered and proportion of land conflicts within unregistered land parcels and registered parcels, isolate whether women and individual from marginalized communities suffer from a greater share of land conflicts, pinpoint the proportion of people suffering from a fear of land conflicts within unregistered land parcels and registered parcels, evaluate the likelihood of conflicts when the land registration has the name of either the household head or spouse in comparison to land owners whose land are registered under the name of the deceased parents or husbands. The quantitative survey was conducted in the household level across all 64 districts of Bangladesh.
