This was a situation analysis study conducted to understand the state, extent, determinants and causes of poverty among women and adolescent girls in Cox’s Bazar district of Bangladesh. The objective of the study was to help in designing an asset transfer program in the region. This World Food Programme (WFP) commissioned study was aimed to assess current situation of poverty and food security and its effects in local community and to identify both immediate and underlying determinants of poverty and insecurity in the poor and vulnerable households to develop a programmatic approach for reaching them with suitable interventions. The study was conducted in five upazillas (Ukhia, Teknaf, Pekua, Moheshkhali and Kutubdia) of Cox’s Bazar district using a qualitative approach.
