The Ecopond project brought lot of success in increasing productivity and diversity in production of fish production. Women involved in small homestead ponds ‘Ecoponds’ able to increase production of fish, income and household fish consumption with minimum investment using ecofriendly technology, and ensuring consumption of fish regularly by households. Considering success and adoption of Ecopond and empowerment of women observed during implementation of Ecopond 1, Ecopond II and the projects implemented by Caritas-Bangladesh and CREL Projects in order to get better understanding it has been planned to carry-out thorough studies on ‘Assessment on the impacts of Ecopond and Empowerment of Women’. Development Research Initiative (dRi) was assigned to conduct survey of households with Ecopond intervention and non-intervention polders in Dumuria and Botiaghata Upazila in Khulna and Amtali Upazila in Barguna Districts in the southern region of Bangladesh and develop database for impact assessment of Ecopond and Empowerment of Women.
