This study was funded and supported by the “Innovation and Growth” project of UKaid. The main target of the project was to understand the intensity of innovative activities and current state of finance among SMEs in Bangladesh. UKaid understands that SMEs in Bangladesh face difficulties in obtaining bank finance. And innovative SMEs, due to the nature of their business, may lose out on external financing as the risks involved in the business may be very high. As finance is an important aspect of firm innovation, this survey aimed to get a snapshot of the state of innovation and funding innovation in SMEs in Bangladesh. The results obtained from the survey are intended to be used in policy making thus allowing for a more inclusive financial sector.
