To support the livelihoods of vulnerable population specially women and children during COVID-19 pandemic, Government of Bangladesh has undertaken different programs named Maternity Allowance and Lactating Mother’s Allowance (MALMA), Vulnerable Development Group (VGD) programs which provide food and cash assistance to the ultra-poor pregnant and lactating mother and vulnerable female headed households. To increase the coverage of MALMA and Vulnerable Group Development (VGD) programs, UNICEF worked in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MOWCA) and administered a study to assess the eligibility of households for enrollment into the programs in Ukhia and Teknaf Upazials of Cox’s Bazar. On behalf of UNICEF, dRi conducted 432 Surveys, 12 FGDs, 16 KIIs in Ukhia and Teknaf and identified the potential women who are eligible to get included in the MALMA program and who don’t meet the eligibility criteria but need such supports. Through this study dRi also assessed the reasons of their exclusion from MALMA for further advocacy.
