The Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh assigned Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) to implement the project “Up-Gradation of Rural Electric Distribution System at Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet Division (UREDS; DCSD) Project” under the Rural Electricity Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Project with the financial support from the IDA, World Bank with the objective of reducing systems losses and enhancing capacity in the rural distribution network in the eastern part of Bangladesh.
The project covers construction of new lines, rehabilitation/upgrading of lines, construction of substations, construction of switching station and river crossings to complement the rapid expansion of the lower-voltage network that occurred over the last decade. With the understanding that the connecting new grid lines may cross over someone’s land, Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) is required to frame out and identify eligible PAPs and to prepare an inventory of losses. Development Research Initiative (dRi) has been supporting BREB in preparing RAP, implementation of it and monitoring of the components.
