As a part of a larger study on the Welfare of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN) and the Potential impacts of this Population Influx on the Local Economy, IFPRI and BIDS conducted a study utilizing a Local Economy-wide Impact Evaluation Model (LEWIE) for the southern Chittagong region of Bangladesh. Under the research project, dRi conducted qualitative survey where 45 community questionnaire were filled from Kutupalong and Nayapara (inicluding communities in the old camp, makeshift camps and new influx population).
This study consisted of observations and focus group discussion using a semi-structured questionnaires. In addition, an Enterprise Survey has also been conducted where total sample size were 449 (Outside 193, Inside 143, Vicinity 113). Enterprises outside the camps included constructions, fishing, and agricultural product trading (food grain, fruits, and vegetables).
