NORTHERN AREAS REDUCTION-OF-POVERTY INITIATIVE (NARI) is a pilot project aiming at facilitating access to employment opportunities in the garment sector for poor and vulnerable women from lagging areas of Northwestern districts of Bangladesh namely Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat by providing information, technical and life skills training, transitional housing, and other support to adjust to urban life and formal sector employment. SUSHILON, the NGO contracted by BEPZA for recruitment of the trainees, has been working to recruit desired number of candidates for the DTCs.
It was important to recruit a firm by the World Bank to closely monitor the recruitment activities of SUSHILON in the source areas and supervise the motivation, mobilization and recruitment of candidates for training in the districts of Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat. For this purpose, dRi was hired as a consulting firm for sustained monitoring of the recruitment process. This would encourage SUSHILON to put in more effort for the recruitment purpose.
