This collaborative research project, funded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in partnership with Stanford University, examined how garment factory workers in Bangladesh reported and resolved experiences of unwanted behavior. dRi conducted the data collection of the study evaluating the Readymade Garment Sustainability Council (RSC) anti-harassment policy and training in garment factories in Bangladesh. The study measured changes in workers’ knowledge and attitudes toward harassment, perceived workplace safety and climate, and the effectiveness of factory grievance mechanisms. dRi carried out baseline and endline phone-based quantitative surveys with garment workers and mid-level managers. All interviews used SurveyCTO/CAPI, with strict ethical protocols, hard-garbling for sensitive harassment questions, audio recording for quality back-checks, and full data privacy protections. dRi handled enumerator training, field coordination, real-time data validation, and delivery of clean datasets to the MIT research team. Aggregated findings were intended to inform a policy-oriented report containing recommendations for strengthening reporting mechanisms in the garment sector.
