In this monthโ€™s Knowledge Sharing Session, we had the pleasure of hosting ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐Œ๐š๐ฑ๐’๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž, Executive Director of NETZ Bangladesh, along with Friend of dRi, ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐‡๐š๐ฌ๐š๐ง๐€๐ฌ๐ก๐ซ๐š๐Ÿ, for an enriching exchange of ideas. The interactive session gave the dRi team an invaluable chance to share perspectives and explore new ideas together.

There was an engaging discussion about Dr. Maxโ€™s book, “๐ˆ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐œ๐’๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐š๐ง๐๐๐ฎ๐›๐ฅ๐ข๐œ๐๐ข๐ž๐ญ๐ฒ๐ข๐ง๐๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐š๐๐ž๐ฌ๐ก”, which examines the deep-rooted cultural role of wazmahfils (เฆ“เงŸเฆพเฆœเฆฎเฆพเฆนเฆซเฆฟเฆฒ)โ€”sermon gatherings that have shaped public life in Bangladesh since the 19th century. Through fieldwork and interviews, the book offers insights into how these sermons influence expressions, imaginations, and emotions in public discourse, inviting us to reconsider civic engagement and the role of aesthetics in Islamic practices.

The dRi team also shared field experiences, expanding the discussion to other emerging topics in the development sector. A big thank you to Dr. Max, Dr. Hasan, and our team for contributing to this thought-provoking session!
