In this monthโs Knowledge Sharing Session, we had the pleasure of hosting ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ฑ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐, Executive Director of NETZ Bangladesh, along with Friend of dRi, ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ซ๐๐, for an enriching exchange of ideas. The interactive session gave the dRi team an invaluable chance to share perspectives and explore new ideas together.
There was an engaging discussion about Dr. Maxโs book, “๐๐ฌ๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐๐ข๐๐ญ๐ฒ๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ก”, which examines the deep-rooted cultural role of wazmahfils (เฆเงเฆพเฆเฆฎเฆพเฆนเฆซเฆฟเฆฒ)โsermon gatherings that have shaped public life in Bangladesh since the 19th century. Through fieldwork and interviews, the book offers insights into how these sermons influence expressions, imaginations, and emotions in public discourse, inviting us to reconsider civic engagement and the role of aesthetics in Islamic practices.
The dRi team also shared field experiences, expanding the discussion to other emerging topics in the development sector. A big thank you to Dr. Max, Dr. Hasan, and our team for contributing to this thought-provoking session!
