In July month’s knowledge sharing session, we had the privilege of hearing from our colleague Kamrul Hasan Arman, who shared his firsthand experiences from Bhasanchar’s Rohingya camp. He discussed the environment, daily life, cultural insights, and community structures observed during their time there.

Arman provided an in-depth look into their journey from Chittagong on a Navy ship, describing the unique challenges and experiences of traveling to Bhasanchar. He highlighted the differences between the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasanchar, offering valuable comparisons and insights. The presentation covered various camp structures, including hospitals, hotels, and markets, as well as clusters within the camp, each equipped with a cyclone shelter. Arman also discussed essential amenities such as solar panels, deep tube wells, water tanks, ponds, LPG, and a biogas plant, which play a crucial role in the daily lives of the residents. He shared their experiences during Cyclone Remal, providing valuable insights into the unique aspects of life in Bhasanchar.

Additionally, he shared information about notable landmarks within the camp, including the jetty, lighthouse, Island Mall, shops, and intriguingly named places like ১৯ এর মোড়, ৫ এর বাজার, and বাবলার মিষ্টির দোকান, painting a vivid picture of life in Bhasanchar’s Rohingya camp and its distinctive features.

This session has deepened our understanding of life in Bhasanchar’s Rohingya camp.
