This cross-sectional study, funded by the Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC), assessed the level of awareness regarding cancer danger signs, risk factors, healthcare-seeking preferences, and perceived barriers among adolescents and young adults (AYAs) from ethnic minority (primarily Chakma) communities in Bangladesh. The research aimed to generate evidence for designing culturally appropriate cancer awareness and early detection programs in hilly regions. Data was collected through face-to-face interviews using a pre-tested questionnaire based on the Cancer Awareness Measure (CAM) tool. The study targeted 450 Chakma AYAs (aged 15–30 years) studying in six selected educational and vocational institutions across different upazilas of Rangamati Hill District.
