dRi conducted consultancy for the project Capacity Assessment and Organizational Development of OPDs in Barishal, which aimed to strengthen the institutional and operational capacity of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs). The study focused on enhancing governance and ensuring sustainable service delivery for persons with disabilities through participatory assessments, inclusive strategic planning, and policy development. As part of the consultancy, dRi carried out 3 FGDs/participatory workshops, 3 in-depth interviews, 22 key informant interviews, and 6 observations. Quantitative data were also collected using CBM’s OPD Capacity Self-Assessment Tool, providing evidence to identify organizational gaps and recommend strategies for OPDs to improve advocacy, service referral, and inclusive health service delivery. Findings from these activities helped identify organizational strengths and gaps, providing evidence-based recommendations to develop inclusive strategic plans, essential policies, and sustainable governance frameworks. The results supported OPDs in Barishal to become more effective in advocacy, service referral, and promoting disability-inclusive health care services.
