Shafal – Remittance Management for Socio-economic Stability of Migrant Families programme was funded by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh and implemented by UNCDF under the Leaving No One Behind in the Digital Era initiative. The programme aimed to strengthen the financial resilience of migrant households in Bangladesh by improving financial literacy, expanding access to formal financial services, and promoting productive use of remittances through a market systems development approach. Within this assignment, dRi was responsible for tracking progress against the Shafal project logframe across multiple implementation cycles. The tracer studies assessed changes in key indicators such as income, savings behavior, entrepreneurship activities, financial service uptake, and overall economic empowerment among beneficiary households. The studies also identified systemic barriers and enabling factors affecting financial inclusion, and generated disaggregated evidence by gender, geography, and intervention type. In addition, they provided actionable recommendations to UNCDF and relevant stakeholders to support adaptive program management, policy dialogue, and course correction. Each round of the tracer study contributed to updating the project logframe with the latest progress on output, outcome, and impact-level indicators, with particular attention to financial literacy, entrepreneurship, access to financial products, policy engagement, and gender and social inclusion outcomes.
