The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) tasked dRi with conducting an Observational Visit to the Rice Market as part of a study on the rising prices of essential commodities. The visit aimed to understand the rice value chain, assess value added at each stage, and identify potential factors such as collusion, price fixing, or hoarding influencing price increases. Using non-probability sampling, the surveyors gathered data and submitted a report that included a schematic diagram of the rice value chain, along with average prices and production costs at each stage.
